S3 Solutions

The Holding Company is a mail-order company which specializes in home and office storage solutions. They have a complete range of products for all aspects of your home and office, made of materials ranging from leather to perspex, chrome to rattan.

The Holding Company started their web-presence in the early 1990's. The website was originally designed and built by another company. The site is based on Microsoft's ASP technology. It soon became apparent that there was no resource available to continue the administration of the site.
In short they were seeking someone to maintain, administer and extend the web-site's capabilities and who could commit to fortnightly site visits over a period of two years. The Holding Company and S³ Solutions came to this arrangement.

Under the ruse of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), S³ Solutions added a sitemap and http-meta keywords and descriptions.

One of The Holding Company's requirements was to have the facility to highlight text in the descriptions of their products. S³ Solutions implemented the FCKEditor and added two bespoke buttons: One to allow cross-referencing to another product and another to allow for a "searching by category" facility. Furthermore, there was a requirement to highlight a product as a "Bestseller" to show up.

This was not the only change in the back-end of the system. S³ Solutions implemented an XML writer to create files which were to feed an accounting system.
